The Warm Homes Plan:
Skills & Careers Opportunity

The UK Government’s Warm Homes Plan is a major long-term programme to upgrade millions of homes, improving energy efficiency, cutting bills and reducing carbon emissions.
Delivering this at scale will require a skilled and diverse workforce, creating significant employment and training opportunities across retrofit and low-carbon housing.

What Does This Mean for Jobs?

The Plan is driving growing demand for roles including:

• Retrofit assessors, coordinators and designers

• Insulation, ventilation and building fabric installers

• Heat pump, solar and low-carbon technology installers

• Project, quality and compliance roles across housing and construction

Alongside this, government-backed and industry-led training is expanding, offering funded courses, accredited qualifications and clear routes for new entrants, career changers and those already working in related sectors.

How WinR Supports Women into Opportunity

At WinR (Women in Retrofit), we help women understand and access the opportunities created by the Warm Homes Plan.

We will:

• Work with training providers, colleges and employers to promote skills pathways and career routes

• Share insight and understanding of the roles being created and the skills needed

• Attend and run local events where our members can learn more about training, careers and next steps

Our aim is to ensure women are visible, informed and supported as this growing sector takes shape.
